GFCI stands for Ground-Fault Circuit Interrupter. This is also known as RCD – Residual Current Device in other countries.

A GFCI outlet is designed to monitor the flow of electricity to a circuit and prevents electric shock.

NEC

The NEC- or National Electrical Code requires GFCI outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, or anywhere with a water source by the outlets.

It is a good idea to invest in an update, especially if you have an older house. We can update your standard outlet or install a new one.
